Noble Indian

Though we live on the land
Our forefathers stole,
We show no remorse
And claim to be whole.

Manifest Destiny
Is our rationalization
But upon Indian blood
We've built our nation

There's no greater sin
Under God's sun
Yet we refuse to confess
The evil we've done

We pride ourselves
On missionaries we've sent,
While we ignore God's mandate
To sincerely repent.

A nation under God
We claim to have built,
Though rivers have flowed
With blood we've spilt.

Five long centuries ago
We began our crime,
Yet God still waits
As we bide our time.

He still hears the cries
Of each Indian
As He patiently awaits
Our sorrow for this sin.

Do any of our preachers
Really See?
Can they not comprehend
Wounded Knee?

Children and women,
Two hundred there were,
Slaughtered by our cavalry's
Heartless Massacre.

And ninety weaponless braves,
Voices never again heard.
With Gatling guns
They were murdered.

On Jackson's Trail of Tears
Thousands mercilessly died
Due to promises broken.
Our leaders cruelly lied.

Sunday morning pastors preach
Repentance from sin.
Later, they cheer or jeer
A D.C. Redskin.

How long, O God,
Will you tolerate our sham?
Will not your arm soon judge
The American Man?

Are our leaders blind?
Do they not see
That our nation must pay
For Wounded Knee?

Crowded jails and prisons
Expose hypocrisy
When they hold those who righteous
Refuse to be.

But for our country's
Abominable crime
We naively think
We will never do time.

The soul of our nation,
We will certainly lose,
If God's call to repentance
We steadfastly refuse

Though Jesus died on a cross
For our ugly sin,
We beg your forgiveness,
O Noble Indian
